An Introduction

You Are Here celebrates the richness of the music scenes we have in East Kent and the grassroots promoters that bring these communities together.

When Brian Eno talks about the importance of scenius (as opposed to genius) in music, he’s referring to the precious networks of venues, festivals, nights, artists, audiences and friendships that make up a music scene. Grassroots music promoters are at the heart of these networks, bringing people together to share music night after night, year after year, often with little resources and in difficult circumstances. One of the aims of You Are Here is to raise awareness of these local heroes and celebrate our grassroots music promoters.

Ten different promoters have worked together to create You Are Here:

Free Range, Gulbenkian Arts Centre, Smugglers, The Hot Tin, Arctic Circle’s Daylight Music, The Crash of Moons Club, Coastal Electronauts, Deep Listen,The Rockstar Experience & Big Cheese Arts
